China and the United States will conduct joint naval maritime search and rescue exercises off the west coast of the US or off Hawaii when China's Navy visits the US in September 2006, aiming to enhance mutual military understanding and future cooperation. The US Navy will also visit China later in October or November 2006, conducting with its Chinese counterpart a larger joint naval maritime search and rescue exercises off China's coast.
